Drupal for Facebook About Drupal for Facebook:
(from the Drupal project page)

This set of modules and themes turns Drupal into a platform for developing Facebook Applications.

With Drupal for Facebook, you can harness all the power of Drupal in your Facebook App. If you already have content in Drupal, you can expose it on Facebook.

The Drupal for Facebook philosophy is that the functionality already built into Drupal should be used to create Facebook Applications. Where possible, we use Drupal’s user management, permission schemes, blocks, views, etc. to implement the Facebook App. Experienced Drupal users will find it very straightforward to build a Facebook App. While Facebook developers new to Drupal may want to spend some time on Drupal.org learning best practices.

This is a demonstration of Drupal for Facebook in a Facebook application. And another demo Drupal Facebook app.

Drupal is very secure CMS / framework and has a large contributing community that supports its active development. Drupal uses an extremely flexible system of modular functionality that provides unlimited potential to creative site developers. Unlike many other CMS, functionality from multiple contributed Drupal modules can be used seamlessly together. And there are hundreds of brilliant Drupal modules!

Drupal for Facebook code is available to download and install into Drupal 5.x, however it is still in development status. The author demonstrates that Drupal for Facebook has been used to create Facebook applications. However, at this point there is no “officially supported” release.

The author, Dave Cohen, has posted this disclaimer, “This means APIs may change and there is no guarantee of compatibility going forward. When you code changes, you may have to change your code and configuration to keep your apps working.”

I am extremely excited about this project, and I look forward to an official release!

If you already maintain Drupal-powered website, this is your time to rejoice. Facebook for Drupal can be used to expose your current web assets (content, services, etc.) to new potential users through Facebook. Or this project could be used to extend greater value to your current website users though an integration with their Facebook account.
