Post-Launch Tweaks

Facebook users can easily uninstall any app they no longer find useful or interesting. They may be quick to install, but even quicker to uninstall 3rd party applications. It seems critical to tweak any Facebook app post-launch by reacting to user feedback. One dissatisfied user of the FaceDouble app posted his reasons for uninstalling it. “I wouldn’t remove (the FaceDouble F8 app) if it didn’t take up half (the space on his profile) lol.” Carefully listening to any user feedback can increase the likelihood of long-term success for a Facebook app.

Subscription-Based Facebook Apps

FaceDouble sells a $3.99 monthly subscription to their service, however I am unclear what this premium service includes. I look forward to seeing more data on install/uninstall rates of future subscription-based apps for the Facebook platform.

Disclosure: I have no ownership interest or relationships with anyone with ownership interest in any services or sites discussed in this post.

Just to clarify regarding the affiliate links - Alex is a friend of mine and I’m pointing to his site as well as running banner ads for facedouble just because he’s a friend and I like the service. There’s no commercial relationship or money changing hands, it’s just a nice service I’d like to see succeed.

Thanks for clarifying that. It does look like a cool service.

In your post, you mentioned that the F8 FaceDouble app had been installed by 500 users. Could you tell us the approximate time when you quoted that? Around midnight, it was at 716 users, so I’m trying to sketch out an adoption curve for the day.

Also, could you explain what the monthly subscription includes? I honestly couldn’t tell by reading the site.

Thanks,
Dan

On the mobile phone: 99c/one use, $3.99/10 uses/month. As you are aware, the cell phone companies have a pay for everything model, so in order for me to provide this service on your mobile, I need to charge a small fee. Please let me know how I could clarify these terms.

Hi Alex, thanks for your time. It’s the ‘10 uses’ bit that I wasn’t clear about. Is it 10 specific functions such as photo uploads or votes? Or is it really just any 10 actions sent from a mobile phone?
Is the service completely free for users accessing it through the web?

yes, it’s free on the web.
